| 6 Arrested For Police Car Riot Damages; Tire Goes Through Windshield I76; Phillies COVID-19 Updates |

Six people have been arrested for vandalizing, damaging, stealing from, and lighting fire to Pennsylvania State Police vehicles on the first day of unrest in Philadelphia in late May. Luke Cossman of Levittown, Steven Anderson of Levittown, Sammy Rivera of Philadelphia, Francisco Reyes of Philadelphia, William Besaw of Souderton, and an underage boy from Croydon are charged with criminal mischief, vandalism and theft. It happened on May 30th around 3:45 p.m. near the intersection of Broad Street and Vine Street/I-676. These were the first protests in Philadelphia in response to the death of George Floyd. Up until this point on that day, the demonstrations had been peaceful and there were no large confrontations between police and protestors as they marched through Center City. Things turned when the march arrived at this intersection and clashes started. The suspects are accused of damaging two Pennsylvania State Police cruisers. Police say they used numerous objects, including a scooter, hammer, skateboards, bike locks, and pry bars. The vehicles were also spray-painted. One was lit on fire. Police equipment and personal items were stolen from inside the cruisers. Cossman, Anderson, Rivera and Reyes were taken into custody on Wednesday. Besaw and the juvenile were already in custody on other charges.
A person was hospitalized after a bizarre accident on the Schuylkill Expressway I-76 on Wednesday morning, 7/29. It happened around 6 a.m. near the Gladwynne exit. A vehicle traveling in the westbound lanes lost a tire. The wheel then bounced into the eastbound lanes and through the windshield of another car. That vehicle was then rear ended. Traffic was backed up for a few hours. One person was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital in unknown condition. State police are investigating the accident.
Philadelphia Phillies General Manager Matt Klentak said on Wednesday, 7/29, that one employee that works in the visiting clubhouse has tested positive for coronavirus COVID-19. This is after 17 players and staff of the Miami Marlins tested positive following their series against the Phillies last weekend. Visiting clubhouse staff has been quarantining since news of the outbreak. Phillies players and on-field staff have tested negative for the second straight day. The Phillies home-and-home 4-game series against the New York Yankees this week was postponed. The Phillies are scheduled to play the Toronto Blue Jays this weekend. Toronto will be playing home games in Buffalo this season after Canada did not allow an exemption to MLB for players to travel back and forth over the border, however their temporary home stadium is not yet ready. Philadelphia will host the Blue Jays August 1-2, but Toronto will be the 'home' team. Friday's game has been moved to Saturday and will be played as part of a traditional double header starting at 3:07 p.m. Sunday's game will also start at 3:07 p.m.

The Philadelphia Eagles placed RT Lane Johnson, OT Jordan Mailata, and LB Nathan Gerry on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday, 7/29. Johnson revealed that he tested positive for coronavirus shortly afterward. The status of the other two players is unknown. The Reserve/COVID-19 list is for "a player who either tests positive for COVID-19 or who has been in close contact with an infected person or persons." Players have begun reporting to training camp and are being tested as they arrive. These three will have to stay away from the facilities until they pass testing protocols. "I have been working hard in preparation for a long, grueling season and have tried to take all the necessary precautions to build a safe and healthy environment during the sessions. I have and will continue to take this seriously and encourage everyone else to do so as well," Johnson said in a statement.
