Man Charged In Death of Woman in Suitcase; Library Director Resigns; Berks Co Baby Had Covid

Philadelphia Police have arrested a man in connection to the death of a woman found in a suitcase in Kensington earlier this month. Aaron Mosher of Brown Mills, NJ, is charged with criminal conspiracy, tampering with evidence, abuse of corpse, and obstruction of justice. He was arrested on Monday, 7/20. The body of 25-year-old Christina Gribbin of Chester County was found inside a suitcase around 10 a.m. July 11 near Kensington and Allegheny Avenues. She had two sons and lived in Honey Brook, PA. Police have not revealed any more details surrounding her death. The investigation in ongoing.

The Director and President of the Free Library of Philadelphia has resigned. Siobhan Riordan spent 12 years leading the library system and was the first woman in the position. The entire library system and its 54 branches have been closed since March due to pandemic. Plans were to reopen at the end of the month. Riordan had faced demands to resign from a group of library employees called Concerned Black Workers of the Free Library of Philadelphia. They say that Riordan failed to address current concerns about a safe reopening as well as long standing issues stemming from racial inequality in the workplace. The Berks County coroner's office announced on Thursday, 7/23, that a newborn baby that died last weekend has tested positive for coronavirus COVID-19. The infant died shortly after being admitted to Reading Hospital on Sunday, July 19. The baby girl was only 26 days old. The coronavirus test was performed as part of the autopsy on Monday. Additional tests will be needed to determine if the child died because of COVID-19. "It is too early to say with medical certainty that the death is either from or related to COVID-19," said Acting Coroner Jonn M. Hollenbach.

UPDATE: Berks County Coroner Jonn Hollenbach said on Friday, 7/24, that the death may have been from accidental suffocation after co-sleeping with an adult. He also said there has been no evidence that she died from COVID-19, or that it played any part in her death.
