President Donald Trump Says Pandemic Will 'Get Worse Before It Gets Better'; 'Wear A Mask'

President Donald Trump appeared by himself in the White House press room on Tuesday, 7/21, to give a coronavirus COVID-19 update. It has been several months since Trump and the coronavirus task force has given daily briefings. On Tuesday he conceded that, "It will probably unfortunately get worse before it gets better. That's something I don't like saying but it is." Trump seems to have taken a turn on masks. He is now promoting their use. "We're asking everybody when you're not able to socially distance to wear a mask. Whether you like the mask or not, they have an impact," he said. "I'm getting used to the mask," he added. The president pulled one from his pocket and said he uses it all the time when close to other people. Trump also said that researchers are making progress on vaccines and therapeutics. "My administration will stop at nothing to save lives, shield the vulnerable," he said. "The vaccines are coming and they're coming a lot faster than anyone thought possible." In the meantime, lawmakers on Capitol Hill and White House officials are working on trillion-dollar+ "phase four" economic aid package.
