| Family: Missing 2yo King Hill Killed; Philly Heat Heath Emergency; Horsham Apartment Fire, 1 Dead |

The family of missing 2-year-old King Hill of Philadelphia says that detectives confirmed to them on Sunday afternoon, 7/19, that the boy has been killed. Police went to the family's Strawberry Mansion home and told them that they believe they know who is responsible. Police have not released any details. An arrest may have already been made. The family also said that police do not have the boy's body. "We don't even know where his body is, he's just out there laying somewhere. We don't know, and they said that we might never recover his body," said King's grandmother, Kimberly Hill. The boy was in the custody of his stepfather for most of June. At one point, the stepfather entrusted King to a woman babysitter. The babysitter said she returned the child to his mother, Amber Hill. Amber says she never got King from the babysitter. The child was reported missing on July 7. "Wherever he is at, whatever happened to him, just bring him back so we can put King to rest," said Kimberly. "He was amazing, everybody loved King."
UPDATE: The babysitter, 24-year-old Tianna Parks, has been arrested and charged with murder, interference with the custody of children, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and obstruction of justice.
The City of Philadelphia has issued a Heat Health Emergency starting 8:30 a.m., Monday, July 20. The emergency activates the City's emergency heat programs which include the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging's Heatline, cooling centers, home visits by special field teams, enhanced daytime outreach for people experiencing homelessness. The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for the entire area until 8 p.m. Monday, 7/20. Air temperatures on Monday will reach into the upper 90s close to 100. Heat Index values will be around 110. High temperatures are forecast to be in the 90s through next Monday, July 27, setting up a lengthy midsummer heat wave.
The National Weather Service says:
"Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1."
One person was killed in a two=alarm apartment fire in Horsham, Montgomery County on Sunday morning. It happened just before 6 a.m. on the 100 block of Alison Road in the Blair Mill Village apartments. Firefighters arrived to smoke and flames coming from a second floor apartment, but fire did spread to other units. They placed it under control around 6:30 a.m. One person was found dead on the second floor. The person's identity has not been revealed. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Seven others were displaced by the fire. |
