Wanted Arson Suspect Set Self on Fire; Philly Chief Inspector Suspended; 2 NJ Teens Charged w Murder

Philadelphia Police are searching for an arson suspect in Northeast Philadelphia who accidentally set himself on fire. It happened at 12:42 a.m., 6/19, on the 11000 block of Knights Road. Police have released surveillance footage of the incident. The male suspect is seen pouring flammable liquid on some bushes and then igniting them. In the process he also lit himself on fire. The man then fled in a car going east on Knights Road. He was wearing a black jacket, red shirt, and black shorts. If you have any information call Northeast Detective Division at 215-686-3153/3154.

Philadelphia Chief Inspector Anthony Boyle was suspended for 30 days on Monday, 6/29, with intent to dismiss. 67-year-old Boyle was a 44-year veteran of the force. Boyle was included in a lawsuit against the department brought by several African American officers claiming racial discrimination. A female captain alleged he attacked her during a narcotics arrest in 2018. "The (Internal Affairs) investigation determined that Chief Boyle violated departmental policies of: conduct unbecoming - unspecified; neglect of duty - failure to comply to with any police commissioner's orders, directives, memoranda, or regulations; or any oral or written orders of superiors; failure to supervise - failure to properly supervise subordinates," said a spokesperson with the Philadelphia Police Department. "The Department has sat and not let us have due process to fight back. Today is the first day of the fight back," Boyle

Two teens have been charged in the death of a homeless man last week in Camden County, New Jersey. 63-year-old Bobby J. Hill Jr. was found in an alleyway near 1100 block of Kaighn Avenue on June 25. The medical examiner determined he died of blunt force trauma after being beaten to death. Surveillance footage show the two teens entering the ally with Hill and then leaving the ally without him several minutes later. Detectives found images of Hill's body on one of the teen's phone. The 15-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl have been charged with first degree murder. They aren't being identified because they are minors.
