NJ Indoor Dining Postponed Indefinitely; Stabbing at Philly Protest Camp; Details in 3 Drownings

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced on Monday, 6/29, that he was postponing the resumption of indoor dining across the state indefinitely. Indoor dining and bars were set to reopen on Thursday, July 2, with 25% capacity restrictions. He said that the rise of cases in other states has caused him to be more cautious in reopening the restaurants. Murphy also mentions that he is dismayed by behavior at many establishments across the state offering outdoor dining. He said he's seen reports of "Overcrowding. A complete disregard for social distancing. Very few, IF ANY, face coverings." "We will not tolerate outlier bars and restaurants - and, frankly, patrons - who think the rules don't apply to them." Murphy said, "Compliance isn't a polite suggestion. It is required. Selflessness, not selfishness."

UPDATE: INDOOR DINING WILL NO LONGER RESUME ON THURSDAY.

Philadelphia Police are investigating a stabbing at the homeless protest encampment at 22nd Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. It happened around 5:15 p.m. Sunday night. A 26-year-old man was stabbed during a fight. He was taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown. Officials have been worried about the safety of individuals in that camp that is protesting for Black Lives Matter and calling on the city to make reforms for the homeless.

More details have been released about the drowning deaths of three people in their backyard pool last week in New Jersey. It happened around 4 p.m. Monday, 6/22, on Clearview Road in East Brunswick, Middlesex County. 62-year-old Bharat Patel, his 33-year old daughter-in-law Nisha Patel, and her 8-year-old daughter were found unresponsive in a backyard above-ground pool. East Brunswick Lt. Frank Sutter says that the young girl fell into the pool. The mother and grandfather jumped into the pool to save her, but began to struggle themselves. The pool was mostly shallow at 3 1/2 feet, but it did have a 7 foot deep end. "It doesn't appear that the victims knew how to swim." The medical examiner determined the cause of death to be drowning and ruled the manner of death as accidental for all three victims.
