Bill Cosby Case Wins Right to Appeal PA Supreme; Man Climbs Seaside 'Skyscraper'; Double Shooting

Bill Cosby has won the right to appeal his 2018 sexual assault conviction. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court will hear that appeal. The 82-year-old was convicted on three felony sex-assault counts and sentenced to 3-10 years in state prison for drugging and assaulting a woman in his Cheltenham, Montgomery County, home in 2004. The Supreme Court will review two aspects of the case. The first deals with the judge's decision to allow testimony from five other accusers and to allow evidence that he gave quaaludes to women in the past. The second deals with an agreement made with a former prosecutor in 2005 that charges would not be brought against the comedian. Cosby has said that agreement was a factor in his agreeing to testify in a 2006 civil lawsuit brought by the accuser.

A man was arrested on Monday morning, 6/22, after climbing to the top of an amusement ride in Seaside Heights, NJ, and planting an American flag. It happened on the "Skyscraper" ride on Seaside Height's Casino Pier. The man climbed the 150 ft tower structure and attached a flag to the top. He was arrested for trespassing after climbing back down around 10 a.m. Police say he was protesting a personal issue with the police departments in Lavallette and Bay Head. He may also be the same man use climbed the submerged roller coaster and placed a flag after Hurricane Sandy.

Philadelphia Police are investigating a double shooting in North Philadelphia that left two 15-year-old boys injured on Monday night, 6/22. It happened after 8:30 p.m. at 11th and Cambridge Streets. One of the boys was shot 17 times. He was taken to Temple University Hospital and is stable condition. The other boy was shot once in the left leg and was taken to Jefferson Hospital in stable condition. Police say that hundreds of dollars in cash were found scattered at the scene. They also found 20 spent shell casings from two different weapons. No arrests have been made.
