Philadelphia Police are investigating a series of ATM explosions across the city overnight that left one man dead. There were at least 10 ATMs vandalized and robbed in various locations across the city. Mostly smaller machines at convenience stores and mini-marts were targeted. The vandals would use an explosive, like an M80, to blow open the ATM and steal the cash. A 24-year-old man was killed after attempting to use an explosive to blow up an ATM outside Sidekicks Sports Bar on N. 2nd Street. There were reports of loud explosions heard throughout the night from many areas of the city, more than just 10 ATMs worth. No explanation at this time other than speculation.

UPDATE: Up to 30 ATMs were damaged.

The owner of a gun store and range in South Philadelphia shot and killed a burglar early Tuesday morning. It happened around 4:15 a.m. at the Firing Line Gun Range and Gun Store on the 1500 block of S. Front St. in Pennsport. The 67-year-old owner had been staying at the business overnight due to previous burglary attempts. A group of three or four men cut the lock at the gate and broke through the door. The owner watched them on security video as they made their way to the second floor where he was waiting. "One of the males pointed a gun at the owner, and that's when the owner of the gun shop, who was in possession of one of his guns, fired several shots, striking the one male at least one time in the head," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene. Another man showed up at Jefferson University Hospital with a gunshot to the shoulder. Police are trying to determine if he is connected to the attempted burglary. The owner is cooperating with the investigation.

Philadelphia will once again be under curfew tonight Tuesday, 6/2 Curfew will not start until 8:30 p.m. to accommodate those voting in the Pennsylvania presidential primary election. Polls close at 8 p.m. If you are still in line to vote at 8 p.m. you can stay in line to vote. The curfew will be over at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, 6/3.
