New Castle County police have arrested a man for a series of assaults on ponies at the New Castle County Carousel Park and Equestrian Center over the past several months. 31-year-old Michael Riego is charged with two counts of bestiality and two counts of burglary. The investigation began in February after a pony was found injured. There have been several more incidents since then where ponies were found with their hind legs tied together and were sexually assaulted. On Thursday, 5/21, around 12:30 a.m. police were surveilling the property and saw Riego enter a stall and tie a pony's legs together. Police found him hiding in a corner of the stall. The investigation is ongoing. All of the animals have been treated and have resumed their normal routines.

A Delaware County man has been arrested for exploiting about 100 young boys through the video game streaming platform Twitch as well as possession of child pornography. 33-year-old Geoffrey Hines of Upper Darby is accused of targeting boys ages 9-12 years old who were streaming their video game play on Twitch. He would offer them gift cards or game credits to engage in sexual acts on camera. These boys were located all over the world. Acting on a tip from Twitch, the Delaware County Internet Crimes Against Children's Task Force raided Hines' home on the 7200 block of Clinton. They found more than 1,400 videos of child porn on computer hard drives. Hines was remanded to jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.

"This arrest highlights the need for vigilance in connection with your child's use of electronic devices. As a result of the coronavirus, children are spending more time than ever in their own 'virtual' worlds. While video gaming devices offer a welcome break from the tedium brought on by COVID-19, they also present an enormous challenge. Make sure you are having regular conversations with your children about how to use these devices appropriately," said District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer.

"To their great credit, Twitch has defenses built into their system that was able to identify this use as someone abusing children, made a report and the report came to my office," said Stollsteimer.

Statement from Twitch: "Any exploitation of this nature is reprehensible, and we take this issue extremely seriously. The public nature of our service means that these incidents are rare, but nonetheless abhorrent. We are complying fully with law enforcement.

The safety of our global community is our top priority. We are collaborating with industry members to combat child sexual exploitation online through our work with the Technology Coalition and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). We have introduced numerous products and tools to ensure the community experiences Twitch safely, in the way we intend. We regularly assess and update our policies and practices to ensure we are appropriately addressing emerging and evolving behaviors."

A 71-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times early Friday morning in Northeast Philadelphia. It happened around 3 a.m. at the Roosevelt Manor Apartments on the 7400 block of Roosevelt Boulevard in Rhawnhurst. She was stabbed 11 times and hit with a blunt object by a family member during a fight. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The suspect was taken into custody nearby.
