| Avalon/Stone Harbor Beaches to Reopen w/ Restrictions; NE Philly Man Shot; Kenney 'Wear Damn Mask' |

The mayors of Avalon and Stone Harbor in Cape May County, New Jersey, announced that their beaches will reopen for limited activities starting Friday morning, 5/8. Mayors Martin Pagliuighi and Judith Davies-Dunhour made the joint announcement in a letter dated May 4. Walking, running, fishing, and surfing will be permitted from dawn until dusk on the 7 Mile Beach. Stationary activities, including sitting on chairs and blankets, will not be allowed. Social distancing guidelines must be followed. Beaches will be patrolled to make sure guidelines are being followed and that no large groups of people are gathered. Other public spaces including playgrounds, tennis/pickleball/basketball courts, boardwalk, libraries, and recreational centers/fields remain closed.
"We ask that you follow these temporary rules: unfortunately, if they are not followed, we will again close our beaches... We all look forward to the time where we can come together and enjoy our communities, and of course, enjoy each other's company. Until that time arrives, please enjoy the limited access plan to the beach and we remain hopeful that you are your family remain heathy and safe through this pandemic."

UPDATE: Wildwood also announced that beaches will reopen on Friday with restrictions.
A man was shot and killed outside his Northeast Philadelphia home on Monday night, 5/4. It happened around 10:30 p.m. on the 3100 block of Byberry Road near Medford Road in the Parkwood section. The 61-year-old man was shot twice in the arm and once in the chest. He was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital were he later died. Police have not made any arrests and do not have a motive. If you have any information, contact police.
Dismayed at the number of people, particularly young people, that are not wearing masks while out in public around the city, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney got right to the point in Monday's, 5/4, press briefing. "Young people for some reason or another refuse to put the mask on... These young folks don't think of their parents or their grandparents or themselves when they do this," Kenney said. "The sensible thing to do and the best thing for everybody, and the safest thing, is just wear it and get used to it. It's not that much of a burden. Just think about what nurses and doctors and hospital personnel have to go through every day, and just put on the damn mask." City health officials are urging everyone to wear a mask outside in public, not just inside public spaces such as stores, offices, or health care facilities. Masks are required inside public spaces, they are recommended outside.
Sports
The Philadelphia Phillies, 76ers, and Flyers have all announced plans for refunds or credits for tickets to home games that have not been played due to the coronavirus COVID-19 crisis. The NBA 76ers' and NHL Flyers' regular seasons were cut short back in March and the MLB Phillies' season never got started. Each team has announced its own policies regarding refunds, but they are all similar. Teams are offering credit to season ticket holders for next year's season or refunds. Purchasers of individual tickets will get refunds for those games. Find more information from each team:
