New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has unveiled the members of the Governor's Restart and Recovery Commission. The commission is made up of 21 members who come from a variety of backgrounds including health care, business, finance, academics, economics, transportation, and government. "This team is unrivaled in terms of its diversity of experiences, perspectives, and expertise. We will restart our economy with purely Jersey solutions," Murphy said. The commission will advise the Governor on a phased-in reopening of New Jersey's economy while taking into account proper public health measures. They will also take into consideration ways to rebuild the economy and support certain sectors to be of greater benefit in the future than previous structures. That could be done through policy choices, investment, equity considerations for minorities, and infrastructure enhancement. They will identify where State or Federal intervention could support those goals. The panel will address both short and long-term economic issues. They will begin to meet virtually immediately. It will stay together "as long as necessary to inform the restart and recovery of our state’s economy."

A Bucks County man upset about his unemployment claim was arrested after making threats against Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf and his family. 61-year-old Brian Rafferty of Feasterville-Treavose is charged with making terroristic threats and harassment. Rafferty allegedly called the governor's office in Harrisburg at 11:40 a.m. on Monday, 4/27. He was angry that he had not yet received his unemployment check and was not able to speak with anyone at the state's unemployment office run by the Department of Labor & Industry. The exact nature of the threats made against the governor and who answered the phone have not been released, but they were presumably deadly. State police arrested Rafferty at his home. They say the governor or his family were never in any danger. Rafferty was arraigned on Monday night. He was remanded to Bucks County prison in lieu of 10 percent of $200,000 bail.

The 2020 Odunde Festival has been canceled due to concerns for coronavirus COVID-19. The African American cultural street festival has been held annually for over 40 years along South Street and Grays Ferry Ave. This year's festival was scheduled for June 14th. "The health and well-being of our festival attendees, vendors and performers is paramount," Odunde board president and CEO Oshunbumi Fernandez-West said. The festival is scheduled to be held next year on June 13th, 2021.
