| Center City Woman Spits at Shopper/Worker; Blue Angels/Thunderbirds Flyover; Oh CARES Act Resolution |

Philadelphia Police are looking for a woman who spat on another customer and an employee in two separate incidents inside a Center City market last weekend. The one incident happened around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, 4/19, inside DiBruno Bros. on the 1700 block of Chestnut Street in Rittenhouse Square. The suspect bumped into another shopper, who then exchanged words with the suspect about social distancing. The suspect then yelled at the shopper saying, "B!@#$, I don't have the virus." She then pulled down her mask and spat in the shopper's face. The shopper was wearing a mask and glasses and was not injured. The same woman spat on employee of the same store the day before on Saturday, 4/18, after an argument over how she wanted to pay.
UPDATE: 27-year-old Jacqueline McBride has been arrested and charged with simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment.
"It's unconscionable and criminal. We hope the police find her and get her someplace she can't spit on anybody," Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said. "I think people start losing their minds a little bit and it's understandable but that's an assault, it's aggravated assault to knowingly do that to make people ill, intentionally. It's obviously wrong hopefully police find her and arrest her."
She is described as 30 to 35 years old, 5-foot-6-inches tall, thin build, with long reddish-brown hair. She was last seen wearing a three-quarter length black jacket, dark pants, and a red bandana around her neck. If you have any information call Central Detectives at 215-686-3093 or call 215-686-TIPS.
The United State House of Representatives passed a $484 billion stimulus bill that passed the Senate earlier this week. The bill will now go to President Donald Trump's desk where he is expected to sign it quickly. The majority of the money, approximately $320 billion, will go to replenish the Payroll Protection Program (PPP) for small businesses to continue providing payroll to their workers. $75 billion will be going towards hospitals and healthcare providers to reimburse for coronavirus COVID-19 expendatures. $25 billion will go to states and the federal government for testing.
President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday, 4/22, that the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds, the demonstration squadrons for the Navy and Air Force, will be flying over some cities together and some cities separately "to thank first responders, essential personnel, and military service members as we collectively battle the spread of COVID-19." It is dubbed Operation America Strong and was conceived by senior Pentagon personnel. It will be funded by the squadrons' existing budgets. They would normally be doing air shows across the country. The squadrons will fly jointly over Washington, Baltimore, New York, Newark, Trenton, and Philadelphia. There is currently no timetable, but it will be in the coming weeks and will be announced. This is not going to be an air show, but a flyover, to discourage congregating.
Philadelphia City Councilman At-large David Oh has drafted a resolution that he intends to introduce in the next City Council session that addresses a potential oversight in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) and calls on the President, Senate, and House of Representatives to amend the bill. Through the CARES Act, the federal government is sending out stimulus checks worth up to $1200 per adult and $500 per child under 17 to tax filing citizens or social security recipients. The cash number could be less depending on what you make. However, if you are a US citizen and you are married to a non-citizen and you file your taxes jointly, then you will not get a check. If you have any children who are US citizens, you won't get a check for them either. Oh's resolution is calling for an amendment to the CARES Act that would allow US Citizens and their children to receive their stimulus checks despite being married to an immigrant.

The NFL Draft begins tonight at 8 p.m. It will be conducted remotely across the country from all of the teams' facilities and players' homes or schools. The past few years the draft has expanded into huge multi-day events drawing 10s of thousands of NFL fans from across the country to the host city. We all remember the NFL Draft when it was held here in Philadelphia on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Tonight will be very different. Teams had to rely on different metrics and methods to evaluate players, when they'd usually have scouts and team executives flying around the country to watch potential draftees in person. Watch the draft April 23-25 on ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, and NFL Network.
