| Wolf Extends Stay-At-Home to April 30, Schools/Biz Closed; PIAA Update; Sea Isle Stops Short Rentals |

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced on Monday, 3/30, that schools and non life-sustaining businesses will remain closed indefinitely. He also extended the restrictive 'stay-at-home' orders in effect in many counties until April 30. Several rural counties in Central Pennsylvania were also added to the order, bringing the total to 26. "I know this isn't easy to hear, we are built to want to work, to learn, to socialize and it's hard being confined," Wolf said. "We miss our friends, we miss being with family members, but if we want to save lives, we must continue to distance ourselves from each other."
Those counties include: Allegheny, Beaver, Berks, Bucks, Butler, Carbon, Centre, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Erie, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, Pike, Schuylkill, Washington, Wayne, Westmoreland and York.
The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) released a statement Monday, 3/30, concerning winter championships and the start of spring sports. They have not made a decision to cancel any sports or championships at this time. Governor Wolf announced that schools in the state would remain closed indefinitely. The PIAA said that they will continue to take in information from the Governor, Departments of Health, and Department of Education. (see statement below)
Officials in Sea Isle City, New Jersey, are prohibiting online marketplaces from offering short-term rentals until further notice. Realtors in the shore town also agreed to stop short-term rentals in April. They are trying to prevent visitors from coming down the shore during the coronavirus outbreak and overwhelming the town during the off season. "We are very aware of concerns about the influx of visitors to Sea Isle during the current public health emergency, and we are doing everything legally permissible, in accordance with the governor's executive orders, to limit travel to and within Sea Isle City," said Mayor Leonard Desiderio. |
