PA Business Closure Enforcement Delayed; MLK Drive Closed For Recreation; MontCo Testing Site Open

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf said Friday night, 3/20, that enforcement of his order to close all non life-sustaining businesses given on Thursday night, 3/19, will be delayed. Enforcement was to begin on Saturday, 3/21, at 12:01 a.m. It will be delayed until Monday, 3/23, at 8 a.m. The delay in enforcement is being attributed to the high volume of waiver requests from businesses. The order still stands and businesses should be closed. Wolf also updated the list of businesses deemed 'life-sustaining.' If you have a question about whether your business can or cannot remain open, email the Department of Community and Economic Development customer service resource account at ra-dcedcs@pa.gov, or call 1-877-PA-HEALTH and select option 1. The order will be enforced by Pennsylvania State Troopers, local officials, the state Health and Agriculture departments, and the Liquor Control Board. Businesses could receive citations, fines, or suspensions of licenses.

Philadelphia Parks & Recreation announced on Friday night, 3/20, that Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive will be closed to vehicles until further notice. That closure goes from East Falls Bridge to Eakins Oval and will be in effect 24 hours a day. This will allow for 'greater social distancing among trail users.' The City of Philadelphia encourages residents to stay indoors as much as possible. Under current restrictions, parks and trails remain open. Residents who visit outdoor spaces to recreate should: 1) Practice social distancing. 2) Wash their hands for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer after visiting.

A drive-through coronavirus COVID-19 testing location will open in Montgomery County on Saturday morning, 3/21. The location will be located at Temple University's Ambler Campus in Upper Dublin Township. It is not open to the public, it is by appointment only. The testing location will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. as testing supplies allow. You can pre-register for a test online here. In order to qualify for a test you must have one of these qualifications. If you do not meet the qualifications, you will not be eligible for testing.

- Fever at or above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit AND respiratory symptoms such as cough or shortness of breath; OR

- Temperature at or above 99.6 degrees Fahrenheit AND 65 years of age or older; OR

- First responder (law enforcement, fire, EMS, or dispatcher) AND concern for exposure to a patient with suspected COVID-19 OR respiratory symptoms; OR

- Healthcare worker proving direct patient care AND testing not available through employer AND concern for exposure to a patient with suspected COVID-19 OR respiratory symptoms.
