When the Phillie Phanatic makes his debut at Spring Training at Spectrum Field in Clearwater, FL, on Sunday afternoon, 2/23, fans are told to expect some changes to his appearance. We'll have to wait to see this new look Phanatic, but some changes may include the size of his shoes and socks as well as some of his measurements and more. Our green furry friend from the Galapagos has evolved over the years, but these changes are reportedly in response to a rights lawsuit from the character's original creators, Bonnie Erickson and Wayde Harrison. The Phillies bought the rights in 1984, but the original rights holder claim they have the right to renegotiate the copyright after 35 years and are now seeking millions. No matter what the Phanatic looks like, he'll still be the #1 mascot in all of sports. The Phillies take on the Pirates at 1:05 p.m.

A pregnant woman was shot and killed in a double shooting in North Philadelphia on Friday evening, 2/21. It happened just before 6 p.m. near 9th and Dauphin Street. Police say that 2-3 men opened fire on a silver minivan occupied by two adults. A 39-year-old woman who was six-months pregnant was shot in the chest. A 40-year-old man was shot in the chest and shoulder. The male victim drove the woman to Temple University Hospital. She died upon arrival shortly at 6:03 p.m. Doctors tried to perform an emergency C-section to save the baby, but the baby did not survive. The child was pronounced dead at 6:19 p.m. The man is in critical condition. No arrests have been made. If you have any information, call police at 215-686-TIPS.

Nine homes were damaged and 20 people were displaced in a row home fire in West Philadelphia early Saturday afternoon, 2/22. Firefighters were called around noon to the 6100 block of Walnut Street. Several homes had thick smoke. Fire crews quickly doused the homes with water and brought the fire under control by 12:30. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze. No injuries were reported.
