Teens Assault Police Officers at Abington Burger King; 4yo Shoots Self; Last MOVE 9 Member Paroled

Two teens are under arrest after they assaulted two Montgomery County police officers who were trying to break up a large crowd of young people fighting in a restaurant parking lot. 18-year-old Hope Brouwer-Ancher and an unidentified juvenile male are both charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and related charges. It happened after 9 p.m. Thursday, 2/6, at the Burger King on Easton and Edge Hill Roads in Abington. Officers responded to reports of a large group of teenagers in the parking lot brawling. Officers were trying to break up fights between teens. Police from neighboring municipalities responded as the crowd grew. There had just been a high school playoff basketball game nearby at Abington HS vs Cheltenham. While these two officers were speaking with each other, one was attacked without warning by Brouwer-Ancher. As they two officers tried to get her under control, the second officer was attacked from behind by the juvenile male. One officer received a concussion and a broken wrist and the second officer broke a finger. Brouwer-Ancher is being held on $10,000 bail.

A 4-year-old accidentally shot and killed himself inside his family's Burlington County home on Friday night, 2/7. It happened just after 7 p.m. on the unit block of Maricopa Trail in Browns Mills, NJ. The boy was taken to Capital Health at Deborah where he was pronounced dead around 8 p.m. Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina said that after an investigation they determined the shooting was accidental and self-inflicted. The boy has been identified as Lincoln Mack. He was able to get a hold of an unsecured gun in the home. His parents and two siblings were in the home at the time. "Our hearts are with Lincoln's family in the wake of this unspeakable tragedy," Coffina said. "However, an accident like this is entirely preventable. I urge everyone who owns a gun to go - right now - and make sure it is secure and not accessible to any children in their home." The investigation continues, no charges have been filed at this time.

The last member of the radical anti-establishment, back-to-nature group MOVE has been released from prison. The attorney for Chuck Sims Africa tweeted on Friday that his client had been released on parole. The MOVE 9 were each sentenced to between 30 and 100 years in prison after being convicted of third-degree murder in the 1978 shooting death of Officer James Ramp in Philadelphia. Seven of the group were released on parole and 2 died in prison. In 1978, the members of MOVE lived in a house in Powelton Village. A standoff came when police attempted to finally evict the group. Ramp was killed in a shootout between police and the MOVE members. The friction between the city and MOVE continued until the 1985 Osage Ave bombing. FOP president John McNesby said in a statement, "Over four-decades ago, our friend, military veteran and colleague James Ramp was killed trying to keep their community safe during a chaotic incident at the MOVE compound." He noted that 12 other police officers, firefighters and bystanders were wounded by gunfire.
