President Donald Trump will be coming to the Wildwoods Convention Center on Tuesday, 1/28, for a 2020 campaign rally. The rally is being held in New Jersey's 2nd Congressional District, represented by now Republican Rep. Jeff Van Drew. Drew made big headlines when he switched parties from Democrat to Republican late last year. He voted against the impeachment inquiry and against articles of impeachment. The Convention Center is located on the 4500 block of the Boardwalk. It only holds 7,500 people but over 100,000 requested tickets. Attendees already started to lineup for the Tuesday 7 p.m. event on Monday morning, 1/27. Some have lawn chairs other brought tents to wait out the time.

The Philadelphia Department of Public Health and officials from William Penn Charter School in East Falls are investigating the possibility of a case of coronavirus at the school. A Chinese exchange student who had arrived here with a group of students and chaperones fell ill last week. The group had a connecting flight in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China on their way to John F. Kennedy Airport in New York. Wuhan City has been identified as the origin of the new virus. As a precaution, the student was isolated. Reports are that he is feeling better. "Health officials have informed the school that the exposure time in Wuhan was limited and it is important to know that many other common respiratory viruses are circulating in China and here in the United States at this time, so the student's illness is more likely to be caused by one of those viruses," the school said in a statement. Test results to determine if he had coronavirus will take a few days. The health department says "the risk from this novel coronavirus to Philadelphians is low." Coronavirus is being held responsible for 3,000 infections and 80 deaths, all mostly in China. To put this in perspective, influenza each year in the United States infects 10s of millions, hospitalizes 100s of thousands, and kills 10s of thousands.

UPDATE: The test results have come back negative for coronavirus.

NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna were killed when Bryant's personal helicopter crashed in the mountains near Calabasas, CA on Sunday morning, 1/26. It happened around 9:45 a.m. local time. There were seven other people on board who were also killed. They include Orange Coast College baseball coach John Altobelli, his wife Keri and daughter Alyssa, Harbor Day School basketball coach Christina Mauser, Sarah Chester and her middle school-aged daughter Payton, and the pilot Ara Zobayan. They were traveling to a basketball tournament at Bryant's Mamba Sports Academy in nearby Thousand Oaks. The conditions were foggy that morning and several other helicopters were grounded from flying. The NTSB is working on a preliminary report, a full report could take a year. Memorials have been growing all over the country including the Staples Center in LA where he played his entire 20-year career with the Lakers and also outside Bryant Gymnasium at Lower Merion High School near Philadelphia.
