A former Delaware County Children and Youth Services worker is accused of using her position as a case manger to exploit and recruit a mother into prostitution. 27-year-old Candace Talley of Sicklerville, New Jersey, was arrested and charged with human trafficking, promoting prostitution, coercion, official oppression, and related offenses. Talley pressured a mother whose children she oversaw in the foster care system to join a prostitution ring. Talley promised that she would make sure that the mother's drug tests came back clean and that she would give favorable recommendations for her children's placement in the foster system. Talley would get a finder's fee and a percentage of the woman's earnings. She also would drive her to and from jobs. Talley was taken into custody on Thursday morning, 1/23, by the District Attorney's Criminal Investigation Division and was released on $25,000 unsecured bail with home monitoring.

Former Pennsylvania state representative Movita Johnson-Harrell was sentenced on Friday, 1/24, after she pled guilty to felony theft charges. 53-year-old Johnson-Harrell was sentenced to 3-months in a Philadelphia jail and 8 ½ months on house arrest. That is followed by 8 ½ months on parole, and 2 years probation. She must also pay restitution to her non-profit. John-Harrell pled guilty to theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, and perjury. All three were felony charges. She was accused of stealing $500,000 from Motivations Education & Consultation Associates. Johnson-Harrell was chosen in a special election in 2019 for serve the 190th legislative district. She resigned in December 2019.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia says that over "3,000 faithful from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will take part in the Annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. on Friday, January 24, 2020 to promote respect for all human life from conception to natural death." This is the "47th anniversary of the United States Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions that legalized abortion nationwide." This year also marks the first time that the sitting President has made a personal appearance at the march. President Donald Trump said, "Unborn children have never had a stronger defender in the White House," to the faithful gathered on the National Mall. Prior pro-life presidents like Reagan or Bush have only sent pre-written addresses or made phone calls. Trump hasn't always publicly stood on this side of the issue. He has declared a pro-choice stance in the past.
