Bucks Co. Cold Case Murder Solved; Body in Burning Jeep in S. Philly; 4 Charged in Trash Bin Murder

Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub announced on Tuesday morning, 1/21, that they have solved a 15-year-old cold case disappearance and murder. 36-year-old Daman Smoot confessed to the murder of 26-year-old Adam Brundage of Quakertown. He was arraigned on Tuesday morning and has waived his right to a preliminary hearing. Bail was set at $1 million. Brundage, a father of two, was last seen in October 2004. Smoot is accused of hitting Brundage on the back of the head with a baseball bat during an argument. He then buried the body in the H&K quarry in Hiltown. Authorities have located and removed Brundage's remains from the quarry for a proper burial. Smoot is expected to plead guilty to third-degree murder with a sentence of 20-40 years.

Philadelphia Police are investigating after the body of a man was found inside the trunk of a burning car in a South Philadelphia parking lot on Tuesday, 1/21. It happened around noon at 3rd and Oregon. Police were called to a report of smoke coming from a Jeep parked in the shopping center. They discovered an unresponsive 43-year-old man wrapped in a blanket in the trunk area of the Jeep. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death is not yet known. The area is out in the open and busy. Police are looking into surveillance video. No arrests have been made.

UPDATE: Police have identified 43-year-old Joslyn Morgan as the victim. He suffered a gun shot to the head and had his throat slashed prior to being put in the Jeep. The vehicle belonged to the victim.

Philadelphia Police have charged four people in the murder of a man whose body was found in a trash bin in the Olney section. 19-year-old Zahmir Mason, 24-year-old Lashawana Dantzler, and 19-year-old Jordan Oliver-Williams are charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, abuse of a corpse, and other charges. 18-year-old Zamir Burton was charged with criminal conspiracy, tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse, and other related charges. The body of 22-year-old Darius Cheeseboro was discovered in a trash bin last Tuesday, 1/14, on the 600 block of West Rockland Street. A teen girl led police to the location.
