Philadelphia Police say that a man has been killed during a shootout with SWAT after barricading himself in a home in the Frankford neighborhood on Thursday afternoon, 1/9. It started just after 1 p.m. on the 4600 block of Hawthorne Street. Parole officers attempted to serve a warrant for parole violations when the man barricaded himself in his apartment and began firing at officers from the second story window. Police returned fire. SWAT entered the apartment and found the man dead at 2:52 p.m. No officers were injured. Warren G. Harding Middle School and Frankford High School were on "lock in" because the incident. The identity of the suspect has not been released.

Michael White was sentenced to two years of probation on Thursday, 1/9, after previously being found guilty of tampering with evidence in the death of Sean Schellenger. Last fall, 22-year-old White was acquitted of voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of Schellenger near Rittenhouse Square in July 2018. However, he was convicted of tampering with evidence for disposing of the knife used in the killing. His probation also includes random drug screens, mandated counseling, maintenance of continued employment and/or education and payment of mandatory court costs.

The Philadelphia Eagles have fired offensive coordinator Mike Groh and wide receivers coach Carson Walch. Groh was the offensive coordinator for the past two seasons after joining the Eagles as wide receivers coach in 2017. Walch was the assistant wide receivers coach in 2018 before being promoted in 2019. Head coach Doug Pederson said, "After much consideration and discussion, I have decided to make a change at the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach positions. It was not an easy decision for me to make and I appreciate everything that Mike Groh and Carson Walch contributed to the organization and to my staff. As I said yesterday, they were a big part of the job and something that weighs on me, but ultimately I have to make decisions that I believe are in the best interest of the football team."
