Couple Sought for Baby Formula Theft; FedEx Driver Shot, Suspect Killed; $19k Raised For Stray Dog

Police in Delaware County are looking for a couple wanted for stealing baby formula from a Target store. It happened Tuesday, 12/17, at the store on the 1200 block of Baltimore Pike at the Springfield Mall in Springfield Township. A man and woman were caught putting cans of baby formula into a back pack. They had an infant and a toddler with them at the time. They were stopped by store security as they tried to leave. The man threw the car seat with the infant inside to the ground and fled. A short time later the woman returned and took the child. The two were gone before officers arrived. Police say this isn't the first time this couple has stolen formula from this store. If you have any information, contact Springfield Township Police at 610-544-5504.

UPDATE: 12/19/19 The Springfield Township Police Department says they have arrested the woman involved in this incident. The man is still at large but they do know his identity.

Police are investigating after a FedEx driver fatally shot a suspect during an attempted robbery of his delivery truck in Northeast Philadelphia. It happened around 7 p.m. on the 600 block of Unruh Avenue in Lawndale. The 32-year-old was out making deliveries when they were approached by an armed suspect. The driver was also armed and a shootout occurred. The driver suffered a gunshot to the abdomen. He was able to drive to a nearby shopping center on the 6600 block of Oxford Avenue to seek help. The driver was taken to Einstein Medical Center and is in stable condition. The 27-year-old suspect was found in a driveway on the 1400 block of Creston Street. He had shots to the chest, back and torso. He died at the hospital. A car with some of the stolen packages was found near that scene. A second person of interest is being questioned.

A Philadelphia couple who adopted a malnourished, stray dog that wandered into their home in the middle of the night have received over $19,000 so far in a fundraiser. Earlier this month, Jack Jokinen and his wife woke up to find a new dog in their home. All the windows and doors were closed so they were confused how this sick animal ended up curled up on their floor. After reviewing their home security footage, they saw that their front door had blew open in the middle of the night. That's when the dog walked up the stairs and into their home. Then a short time later a passer-by, 35-year-old Steven Griendling, saw the open door and closed it for the family. The Jokinen's decided to take the dog in, but it has many health problems and will need a lot of vet visits. They plan to donate the extra money to other animals in need.
