December is going to start with some type of wintry precipitation throughout the area. This will be a long duration storm lasting through Monday. It's not a huge storm, but it is impacting during the busy post-Thanksgiving commute. Most places will see some mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain. Areas south and east of Philadelphia will most likely see all rain. Areas around Philadelphia are under a Winter Weather Advisory from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday for light snow and ice accumulations before changing to rain. Areas far north and west are under a Winter Weather Advisory from 4 a.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Tuesday for 3-5" of snow and light ice accumulations. The storm is expected to reorganize on Monday and may change back over to snow for most. Check the National Weather Service for latest advisories, watches, and warnings. https://www.weather.gov/phi/winter

A teenage girl was randomly shot and killed right after she got off of a SEPTA bus in North Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon, 11/30. The 16-year-old was shot in the left shoulder. She was taken to Temple University Hospital, where she later died. Police arrested a 41-year-old man who was indiscriminately firing as he walked down the street. He was identified by at least three witnesses as the shooter. Police said 14 shots were fired. Neither the suspect nor the victim have been identified. "Every shooting is upsetting and everyone is somebody's family member, but when it happens to children or teenagers, it just seems the unfairness of it, the sadness of it is magnified even more," Acting Philadelphia Police Commissioner Christine Coulter said. "It's horrible, especially when you can't explain why somebody [is] walking down the street firing a gun. Senseless."

UPDATE: Robert Ross Jamieson has been charged with one count of murder, three counts of attempted murder and other related weapons charges.

Several people were injured in a crash involving a SEPTA bus and passenger car in North Philadelphia on Saturday morning, 11/30. It happened around 11 a.m. at the intersection of North 22nd and York Streets in Strawberry Mansion. The Route 39 bus was traveling westbound on York near 22nd when it was hit. The bus then struck a utility pole which brought down some wires causing a power outage locally. The SEPTA driver and three passengers were taken to Temple University Hospital with non-live threatening injuries. The female driver of the other vehicle was also taken to Temple. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
