The uncle of a boy who was shot in the back of the head while walking home from school in the Frankford section on Wednesday afternoon, 11/6, has been charged after firing shots back at the gunman. 22-year-old Ernest Richardson was walking with 10-year-old Semaj O'Branty when they were fired upon from a gunman in a red Pontiac G6. It happened around 3:30 p.m. near Torresdale and Margaret Street. O'Branty suffered a gun shot wound to the back of his head. He was critically injured but is expected to survive. Richardson returned fire, shooting back at the vehicle. He was taken into custody that night. He is charged with recklessly endangering another person, violation of the Uniform Firearms Act, and possession of an instrument of crime.

Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood has announced that he is retiring after 55 years of service in law enforcement. Chitwood began his career in 1964 with the Philadelphia Police Department where he had a highly decorated 19-year career. He also worked in Middletown, Bucks County, and Portland, Maine before returning to Delaware County. He has led the Upper Darby department for 14 years. Just this week, Pennsylvania Attorney General awarded Chitwood with a lifetime service award. The 75-year-old's last day will be December 1st.

A 23-year-old Philadelphia man was found guilty on Friday, 11/8, in the murder of a 13-year-old boy inside a Chinese takeout in March 2017. Tymear Johnson was convicted of first degree murder and weapon offenses in the death of Khiseer Davis-Prather. It started when Johnson was riding a SEPTA bus and passed by the Chinese takeout restaurant in the Nicetown section. Prosecutors say that Johnson was offended by something he saw Davis-Prather do. Johnson got off the bus, with friend Christopher Southerland, and walked back two blocks to the restaurant. He put on a mask and shot the boy in the head. Johnson was identified by the distinctive jacket he was wearing. He was caught on video in the King of Prussia mall, on the SEPTA bus, and inside the restaurant wearing that jacket. He will receive a mandatory life sentence in January. Southerland pled guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and received 3-6 years.
