Philadelphia Police provided an update into last weekend's separate shootings of an 11-month-old boy and a 2-year-old girl. 11-month-old Yaseem Munir Jenkins was shot and critically injured while riding in the back of his step mother's car on Saturday, Oct. 19 on the 700 block of W. Luzerne Street. 2-year-old Nikolette Rivera was shot and killed when a gunman opened fire on her home on Sunday, Oct. 20 on the 3300 block of N. Water Street. Police announced that 30-year-old Freddie Perez and Tavon Thomas have been arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder, and related charges in the death of Rivera. They say the shooting was motivated by narcotics. Fransisco Ortiz was arrested will be charged with attempted murder for the shooting of Jenkins. Perez has 17 prior arrests and was arrested on Tuesday in Chester. Thomas has 9 prior arrests and was arrested in Philadelphia on Wednesday. Ortiz was released from prison in January after serving 10 years. He was arrested on Thursday after appearing in court for an unrelated gun charge. Police believe that Ortiz actually supplied the gun to Perez and Thomas that was used in the Sunday shooting. They say that it all revolved around the drug trade.

Residents of Delaware County have been reporting a strange fuel or gas-like odor in the air on Friday. The Delco 911 center has received numerous reports of the smell from all over the county. Chester Charter School dismissed early and some businesses have closed. The Emergency Operations Center and hazmat team are activated. The Delco Department of Emergency Services is "working with local responders, state agencies and industry partners to determine the source." The source of the odor has not yet been determined. For more information go to Delaware County Emergency Services 911

Temple University's Lewis Katz School of Medicine was closed and classes canceled on Friday, 10/25, after receiving a threat. An alert was issued just before 6:30 a.m. An individual responsible for the threat was taken into custody. The school remained closed but clinical activities continued.
