In an incident last week, a Philadelphia Eagles' lineman was forced to wield a shotgun against an intruder at his New Jersey home. Corbyn Nyemah of Marcus Hook, PA, went to Eagle's DT Flether Cox's house in Mullica Hill, NJ, to make contact with his ex-girlfriend who was staying with Cox. Nyemah was armed with a baseball bat and threw large rocks through the front door windows. He threw rocks at the ex's car in the driveway. Surveillance cameras apparently showed him walking around the house trying to get in. Cox called police and then grabbed a shotgun. Nyemah fled the scene. Police chased him for 10 miles until the Commodore Barry Bridge and called off the pursuit. U.S. Marshals arrested him late last week. He is now free on bond, but there is a temporary restraining order on him.

Penn State Abington's campus was closed for a period of time on Wednesday morning, 10/23, as authorities investigated a threat. It started just before 10 a.m. w/ officials telling students, staff, and faculty that classes were suspended and to stay away from campus. They instructed those already on campus to stay inside and shelter in place. An all clear was announced shortly after 11 a.m. and that classes would resume at 2 p.m. In a longer statement, officials said "Out of an abundance of caution, Penn State Abington campus was closed today (Oct. 23) for a period of time as police investigated an anonymous tip of a potential threat submitted to police via an online form. Penn State police and local authorities resolved the situation, provided an all-clear to the community, and campus is reopening at 11:30 am. Classes and activities that start at 2 p.m. or after, will be held as scheduled." Police do have a person of interest in custody. No word on the nature of the threat or the person in custody.

Philadelphia Police arrested Freddie Perez of Chester, Delaware County, at his home on the 2000 block of Edgemont Avenue late Tuesday night, 10/22. He has been charged with murder and nine counts of attempted murder in a shooting that killed a 2-year-old girl in Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon, 10/20. Police believe that he is one of two suspects responsible for the shooting. Two-year-old Nikolette Rivera was killed when a gunman opened fire on her home in the Fairhill neighborhood. Her mother and a worker were injured. Several other people inside escaped unharmed. Police were able to use area surveillance video to identify the suspect's car and used tips from the public to identify Perez. Police say that the suspects were targeting Perez's father who was not at home at the time.

UPDATE: Police are now questioning a second suspect, believed to be the shooter in this case. The suspect is in custody but no charges have been filed.
