2 Dead in Bucks Campground Shooting; 2yo Killed in Triple Shooting; $5k Reward in Infant's Shooting

A Philadelphia man is accused of shooting two other men to death during a camping trip in Bucks County early Saturday morning, 10/19. 40-year-old Miles Jones is charged with criminal homicide, possession of an instrument of crime, and recklessly endangering another person. It happened around 2 a.m. at Homestead Campground on the 1100 block of Allentown Road in West Rockhill Township. A group of 16 family and friends were participating in an annual weekend camping trip. Jones got into an argument/altercation with his girlfriend. 41-year-old Eric Braxton and 46-year-old Arthur Hill came to the woman's aid. Jones then left the scene and went to his girlfriend's car. He returned 15 minutes later with a 9mm handgun. He proceeded to shoot both Braxton and Hill. Braxton died at the scene while Hil died at the hospital. Jones is being held without bail at Bucks County Correctional Facility.

A 2-year-old child was shot and killed in a triple shooting in Philadelphia's Fairhill neighborhood Sunday afternoon, 10/20, less than 24 hours after an 11-month-old was critically injured in another shooting. This incident happened around 3:30 p.m. on the 3300 block of North Water Street. The shooter was outside of the residence and fired a half dozen shots into the home. The child was shot in the back of the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. The 24-year-old mother was hit once in the right side of the head and once in the back. She is in stable condition. A 33-year-old man who was doing work at the home was shot in the stomanch. He is is critical condition. They were both taken to area hospitals. "It's heartbreaking. Any crime or anybody shot is a horrible thing, but when people indiscriminately shoot and kill babies or shoot babies, it's unexplainable," Acting Philadelphia Police Commissioner Christine Coulter said. "I can't imagine someone thinking at any time to fire a gun, but to do it with the thought that there are or could be children involved, it breaks my heart." Mayor Jim Kenney said, "Philadelphians should not live in fear of violence that could take away a child's life, but for too many this is a sad reality. With the flow of illegal guns and drugs unabated, we must do whatever we can locally to help address this issue."

There is a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for the shooting of an 11-month-old baby in Hunting Park on Saturday night, 10/19. It happened around 8 p.m. on the 700 block of West Luzurne Street. The baby's stepmother was driving through the area and heard the gun fire. It wasn't until she got home about 9 minutes later that she noticed that the baby had been shot through the car. The baby was hit once in the head, once in the chest, and twice in the backside. They were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said in a statement, "I am outraged, disgusted, and heartbroken by the violence this weekend that claimed the life of an innocent 2-year-old and left another infant fighting for his life.
