Haverford Police Looking For Lurer; Fed. Safe Site Ruling; Man Burned/Buried Stillborn Baby

Haverford Township police are looking to identify man who allegedly attempted to lure a 14-year-old boy into a vehicle last month. It happened around 8 pm on September 16th near the corner of Friendship Road and Pilgrim Lane. The boy told authorities that a dark colored minivan with a white stripe pulled up. The man inside said, "What's up? Hop in." The man drove away when the boy's father started to walk towards them. Police say they are only trying to identify the man and that there are no charges pending at this time. He is described as an older male, possibly Hispanic, wearing aviator type glasses. Police have released a sketch of the man.

A federal judge in Philadelphia ruled on Wednesday, 10/2, that supervised injection sites designed to provide a safe place for addicts to use in order to prevent overdoses do not violate federal law. The law in question is dubbed the "crack house law" (21 USC Â§ 856) because it was codified to cut down on places being used to use/sell crack in the 80's by squeezing the landlords. The law makes it a felony for anyone to knowingly open, lease, rent, use, or maintain any place for the purpose of manufacturing, distributing, or using any controlled substance. Well, a supervised injection site is a place where people will knowingly do drugs. That's illegal? U.S. District Judge Gerald A. McHugh said that he didn't find any evidence that Congress intended to include facilities like this in the 1986 law. "Safe injection sites were not considered by Congress and could not have been, because their use as a possible harm reduction strategy among opioid users had not yet entered public discourse," McHugh said in his ruling.

A Chester County man was arrested and charged last week for dealing methamphetamine from his trailer park home. 49-year-old William Jones was also charged with burning and burying the body of his girlfriend, 29-year-old Anita Depedro's, stillborn baby. There is no indication that the baby was born alive, otherwise he would be facing murder charges. Jones was the target of a several month long investigation. He sold drugs to an informant several times from June to August. The sales took place at his trailer on Egan Circle in Honey Brook Township. Pennsylvania State Police first received an anonymous call about the stillborn baby and the fiery disposal back in March. They have not been able to located the remains. Both Jones and Depedro are drug users, in addition to being dealers, and she reportedly was using during her pregnancy. That would have been a contributing factor in the stillbirth. She is also wanted on drug charges, but has not been caught yet. He has been charged with abuse of corpse, concealing the death of a child, possession with intent to deliver and other related charges.
