Two people were shot on Friday night, 9/20, at a Philadelphia high school football game in the Tioga-Nicetown section. It happened around 7:40 p.m. at Marcus Foster Memorial Stadium on 1600 Staub Street. It was not clear if the shots happened inside or outside, but police say casings were found outside the stadium. Public high schools Imhotep Charter High School and Simon Gratz High School were playing at the time. The game was in the second quarter. Simon Gratz was the home team. The hundreds of fans, family, football team players and staff were evacuated from the stadium. Video shows people running across the field. A 15-year-old was shot in the thigh and a 14-year-old was shot in the foot. They were taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center in stable condition. No arrests have been made. No weapon has been found. The investigation is ongoing.

On Saturday, Mastery Charter issued the following statement: "The shooting last night in North Philadelphia during the Mastery Charter Gratz High School football game happened outside of the stadium. It was not related to the game and no Mastery students were involved."

Drexel University and Tower Health won the bid to purchase St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. The $50 million deal was reached in a private auction that started on Thursday, 9/19. The closing of Hahnemann University Hospital and bankruptcy filing of the hospital's parent company prompted the auction. Unlike Hahnemann, St. Christopher's will remain open. The deal still needs to be approved by a bankruptcy court. A hearing is scheduled on Monday, 9/23, in Wilmington, DE. "I know how stressful change can be, but this is good news for St. Christopher's. The sale brings financial stability, operational expertise and continued availability of our world-class pediatric care and nationally recognized programs. Working with highly regarded local institutions brings an extra measure of confidence in the ability to preserve an important health care resource for the vulnerable community we serve," St. Christopher’s Hospital CEO Maria Senna said. Drexel and Tower will be equal partners in the agreement. They also recently signed a 20 year academic affiliation.

Surveillance video shows a wild, close range shootout in the streets of Chester for the second day in a row near Chester High School. This shooting took place just before 8 a.m. on Friday, 9/20, on the 600 block of West 10th Street near Parker. Two men walking down the street open fire on one another, taking cover behind parked cars. One suspect has been identified as Haneef Payne. This shooting is two blocks from the high school and one block from Columbus Elementary School. It is not known if either of the two men were shot. The Chester Upland School District placed schools on lockdown. On Thursday afternoon, 9/19, two teens were shot near the high school after dismissal. One is in critical condition. Police say they are adding patrols to the area. No arrests have been made.
