Lil Uzi Vert Promises Fan Temple Tuition; 10yo Boy Injured in Hit-and-Run; 5yo Falls From 2nd Story

Last Thursday, 8/22, Philadelphia rapper Lil Uzi Vert was shopping at the King of Prussia Mall. As the Grammy-nominated artist was being escorted through one of the department stores by his security team he was approached by 21-year-old Raheel Ahmad. Instead of asking for an autograph or photograph, Ahmad yells, "Can you pay for my college tuition?" Ahmad is a big fan and a student at Temple University. Uzi stopped in his tracks and turned around. He asked, "How much is your tuition?... 90 grand? I could pay that." Uzi then told Ahmad that he needs to see all of his transcripts and papers and that he needs to graduate to get the money. Lil Uzi Vert will be performing this weekend at the Made in American Festival on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

A young boy was the victim of a hit-and-run accident in Northeast Philadelphia on Sunday evening, 8/25. It happened around 7:30 p.m. along the 6700 block of Large Street in Oxford Circle. The 10-year-old boy was stepping out of a parked car when he was struck by a passing car. The driver of the car did not stop and kept driving. The boy was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in critical condition, but is now listed in stable condition. The driver did return to the scene around 9 p.m. He was questioned by police and let go. No arrests have been made at this time.

A 5-year-old boy was critically injured after falling from a second floor bedroom window in Center City on Sunday afternoon, 8/25. It happened just before 3 p.m. on the 2300 block of Naudin Street. A neighbor saw what happened and says the boy appeared to be adjusting the window when the screen came loose and he fell out. He was taken to Childrenâ€™s Hospital of Philadelphia in critical condition. The incident is under investigation.
