Philadelphia Police have arrested three men wanted in a series of armed robberies at Popeyes Restaurants in Northeast Philadelphia the past several weeks. It started around 11 p.m. Friday 8/23 near a Popeyes on the 2500 block of Grant Avenue near Roosevelt Boulevard. Police had extra patrols in the area due to the recent incidents. They spotted a vehicle matching the description of one involved in earlier robberies and attempted to make contact. The vehicle took off and led police on a high speed chase down Grant Ave. The suspects' vehicle eventually hit a police cruiser and an unmarked patrol car before crashing into a pole. Three men got out and ran. They were chased down by officers and caught. One officer was injured when he was struck by a civilian's car while pursuing the suspects on foot. He was treated at the hospital for minor injuries. They are suspected of previous robberies last month at Popeyes Louisiana Kitchens on Caster Avenue and Adams Ave, as well as a Chipotle restaurant robbery adjacent to a Popeyes on Bustleton. There was a recent robbery at the Popeyes on Aramingo Avenue. Police recovered a gun, drugs and multiple masks.

A driver wanted in a hit-and-run accident that critically injured a pedestrian in North Philadelphia early Saturday morning, 8/24, made contact with authorities confirming his involvement. The accident took place around 12:30 a.m. at Broad Street and Somerset. The 50-something man was crossing Broad Street when was struck by a black Ford traveling northbound on Broad. The car did not stop. Police and paramedics were on the scene quickly and took the man to nearby Temple University Hospital in critical condition suffering from blunt force trauma. The driver contacted police around 10 a.m. on Saturday morning who then gave the report to the Accident Investigation District (AID). They responded to the the 7800 block of Michener Avenue and confiscated the vehicle as evidence. There are no charges at this time. The identities of the victim or driver have not been released.

A 14-year-old is in extremely critical condition after being shot in the back of the head on a playground in Southwest Philadelphia on Saturday evening, 8/24. It happened around 7 p.m. at the William C. Longstreth Elementary School playground on the 5700 block of Willows Avenue. He was dragged out to the street where he was found by responding officers. The boy was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital. Authorities do not know if he was the intended target. They believe the male shooter fled in a burgundy colored Chevrolet Malibu. No weapon was recovered, but five or six shell casings were found. Police are looking into surveillance footage from the school and nearby residences. The investigation continues.
