Nine people were injured, including several children, when a tree fell down after being struck by lightening at a Bucks County swim club on Sunday afternoon, 8/18. It happened just before 5 p.m. at the Dolphin Swim Club on the 200 block of West Bristol Road in Feasterville. The large white tent was set up over several picnic tables as an eating area. As severe weather moved into the area, lightening struck a large tree next to the tent which then came crashing down on top. "The lifeguard and staff that were here got everybody out from the tent before the first responders got here," said Bill Oettinger, emergency management coordinator. Authorities said that three of the people had serious injuries, the six others had minor injuries. There were other trees down around the property. The club will be closed as cleanup continues.

Two people are dead after a small plane crashed in Newark, Delaware, on Sunday morning, 8/18. It happened around 9 a.m. in a wooded area near 550 Stanton Christiana Road. The crash happened about 1 mile northwest of Runway 32 at the Wilmington Airport, aka New Castle Airport. The 1965 Beech Baron twin-engine airplane took off at 8:50 a.m. and immediately notified air traffic control that it needed to return to the airport. It was found in a heavily wooded area off of Route 7. The pilot and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not been released. The plane is registered to a Philadelphia resident. The FAA and NTSB will be conducting investigations. "We're going to be looking at three areas: the pilot, we'll be looking at their certification, their medical background, and their training. We'll be looking at the aircraft. We'll be looking at the log books, the control surfaces and the engines. Thirdly, we'll be looking at the environment," said NTSB Investigator Pete Wentz.

The FAA released this statement:
"A Beechcraft BE-55 crashed into trees around one mile northwest of Wilmington Airport in Delaware at 9 a.m. today. The aircraft just departed from Runway 32 at the airport.

Local authorities will release the number of people aboard, their names and conditions. The FAA does not release names of people aboard aircraft.

The FAA will release the aircraft registration after officials release the names.

This information is preliminary and may change during the investigation."

UPDATE: Officials has identified the two deceased from the plane. The pilot was 52-year-old Terrance Daniels, of Philadelphia, and the instructor was 79-year-old Albert Dohring, of Middletown, Delware.

The heat wave continues into the work week after a steamy weekend here in Philadelphia. There is already a Heat Advisory in place for the area from 10 a.m. Monday to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Temperatures will be in the mid-low 90's with the heat index around 100. Limit your outdoor activities, drink plenty of fluids, stay out the sun, find some AC, check on your neighbors. The record high for Monday is 94 so that is in danger of being broken. There is also a chance of storms. Tuesday will be just as hot and humid under the heat watch. The heat wave rolls into Wednesday with more 90s and strong thunderstorms. The break comes on Thursday after a front comes through. Lower humidity and highs in the 80s.
