Five Shot in North Philadelphia; Roofer Dies After Electrical Accident; 3 Arrested After Chase

Five people were shot and injured in Philadelphia's Logan/Ogontz section on Thursday afternoon, 8/15. It happened around 4:30 p.m. on the 5800 block of North 15th Street. This is the second mass shooting incident in the city in just two days. All five victims were taken to nearby Einstein Medical Center, one is in critical condition. A 16-year-old boy was shot in the right hand. A 25 to 30-year-old man was shot once in the left arm and once in the left leg. A 25 to 30-year-old man was shot once in the head and once in the chest. A 24-year-old man was shot once in the right hip. A 21-year-old man was shot once in the left buttocks. Police Commissioner Richard Ross said detectives believe the victims were targeted while sitting down and then were chased down the block. No arrests have been made. A roofer with a private company died after an electrical accident in Northern Liberties on Thursday morning, 8/15. It happened around 10 a.m. on the 1000 block of North 5th Street. The 64-year-old man was doing maintenance work on the roof of a private residence when he made contact with a live wire. The man was electrocuted and fell three stories to the ground. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The incident is under investigation.

Three people were arrested after a police chase through the city on Thursday evening, 8/15. It began near 39th and Poplar Drive around 7:30 pm and ended at 17th and Jefferson Street. Police are still looking for another possible suspect.
