A carjacking followed by a police chase ended when the suspect crashed into multiple vehicles in Kensington on Monday afternoon, 8/12. It started around 3:50 p.m. on the 3600 block of North 17th Street with the report of a shooting. "They did not find any shooting victims, however they did find a shooting scene," Philadelphia Police Inspector Carl Holmes said. The suspect apparently shot two people who took themselves to Temple Hospital. "One male was shot several times in the back and shoulder. Another male had a gunshot wound to the wrist," Holmes said. The suspect then stole a white van. Police spotted the van on Erie Avenue near Front Street. The suspect took off eastbound on Erie and turned south on I Street. He crashed into 4 cars. Some of the vehicles were moving at the time. No one was injured from the crash. No word on the conditions of the shooting victims. The suspect was placed in custody.

A man was shot and his teen daughter assaulted during a home invasion and robbery in Mount Laurel Township, New Jersey, early Tuesday morning, 8/13. It happened around 3 a.m. on the 400 block of Equality Court in the Ethel R. Lawrence Homes. Two men broke into the home and demanded money. They shot the 43-year-old father in the leg and hit the 18-year-old daughter in the head with an unknown object. The father handed over an unknown amount of money. The two fled on foot and then drove off in a car parked nearby. The two victims were taken to Cooper Hospital in stable condition. There were two other family members in the house at the time and they were not injured. Police say that these victims were targeted specifically and money was the motive. If you have any information contact Mount Laurel police, 856-234-1414 Ext 1599.

A Montgomery County teen who recently won $3 million after taking home the first Fortnite World Cup solo championship became the victim of a 'swatting' prank on Saturday, 8/10. 16-year-old Kyle Giersdorf of Pottsgrove was livestreaming while playing online when his house became surrounded by armed police. Upper Pottsgrove Police Cpl. Albert Werner said that someone called and told police that "he was Kyle and said he had shot his father multiple times." Authorities called the home before entering and Kyle's father told them that he was ok. Swatting, so called for its goal to have SWAT respond to the victim's house, not only wastes valuable resources but can be dangerous.
