Man Holds Up 70yo Lady for $11; SEPTA Trolleys Out, I-76 Closed; Dirt Biker Killed Hit-and-Run DUI

A man is wanted for robbing a 70-year-old woman of $11 at gunpoint in Center City last week. It happened around 1:40 a.m. on July 29th on the 800 block of Locust Street. The elderly woman was walking along the street when she heard footsteps and turned around. The man had a gun and demanded money. He reached into her pockets and pulled out $11 and walked away. The man was caught on nearby surveillance video. Police say that the man was alone at the time of the robbery, but was seen with a person-of-interest before and after. He's described as a black male, wearing a dark cap, dark-colored pants, black and white shoes, and a white NASA T-shirt with the American flag NASA logo on the back. SEPTA will be closing down all trolley tunnels under Center City for the 2019 Trolley Tunnel Blitz. The closure will last 10 days from Friday 8/9 10 p.m. to Monday 8/19 5 a.m. The 5-mile trolley tunnel starts at 40th street and runs to 15th street. All trolleys will stop at 40th. Passengers will have to transfer to the Market-Frankford Line to continue into Center City. The round the clock work will focus on critical track and power maintenance and upgrades, station upgrades and painting, tile replacement, and maintenance work; and intensive tunnel, track area, and station cleaning.Trolley Routes 10, 11, 13, 34, and 36 will be affected.

The eastbound Schuylkill Expressway I-76 will be closed between 30th and South streets starting Friday night and lasting until Monday morning. Traffic will be reduced to one lane starting at 9 p.m. and will be fully closing by 11 p.m. It will reopen on Monday, 8/12, at 5 a.m. You can detour by following I-676 East to I-95 South. You can also exit I-76 at 30th Street, follow 30th Street around the station, turn right on Market Street, left on 38th Street and straight on University Avenue to 34th Street to access the ramp to eastbound I-76. PennDOT is repairing a portion of the viaduct.

A man was arrested after a deadly collision involving a dirt bike and a pickup truck in the Queen Village neighborhood. It happened around 9:40 p.m. Thursday, 8/8, on the 700 block of South Columbus Boulevard. The 22-year-old dirt bike rider was found unconscious in the road. He was taken the Jefferson University Hospital where he died. The driver of a Ford F150 pickup truck was arrested on DUI charges.

Philadelphia Eagles backup QB Nate Sudfeld suffered a broken wrist during Thursday night's, 8/8, preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans. The injury occurred in the second quarter. Sudfeld braced himself for a fall after a late hit by Isaiah Mack. A personal foul was called. Sudfeld got up and immediately went to sideline. X-rays at halftime revealed the fracture. He had surgery on Friday, 8/9, and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
