Two Pennsylvania constables have been arrested for illegally providing security for Sunoco's Mariner East Pipeline. 47-year-old Kareem Johnson, a constable in Coatesville, and 58-year-old Michael Robel, a constable in Northumberland County are facing charges of bribery, official oppression, and ethics act violations. Both men were hired by a Harrisburg-based company called Raven Knights to work as security guards along the construction of the Mariner East Pipeline. "They were hired to work security for the Mariner East Pipeline. If they were doing that in their private capacity as citizens, like a security guard, they would be allowed to do that," said Charles Gaza, Chief of Staff for the Chester County District Attorney. However, while working as security guards, the two men identified themselves to residents, journalists, plain clothes detectives, and others as constables. That is known as official oppression. Johnson and Robel also failed to report $10s of 1000s in income made while working for Sunoco, which is an ethics violations.

The Byberry Road Bridge in Upper Moreland Township and Bryn Athyn Borough, Montgomery County REOPENED to traffic on Thursday afternoon, 8/8. The bridge over Southampton Creek was closed for reconstruction since April 1st. The bridge was originally built in 1828 and now carries an average of 11,638 vehicles a day. This should alleviate traffic caused on area roads because of the many detours especially County Line Road, Davisville Road, and Huntingdon Pike.

A 78-year-old man was killed during a robbery at an illegal lottery hall in West Philadelphia on Wednesday, 8/7. It happened around noon on the 1000 block of North 40th Street in the Parkside neighborhood. The storefront was a local hangout where many gathered to gossip, drink coffee, and catch up with friends. The place was also raided recently for being an illegal gambling hall. The victim's relative, Alfonzo Connor, said it was the man's routine to go there. "He was probably in the wrong place at the wrong time." Police are looking into surveillance footage from the area. The victim's identity has not been released.

A 23-year-old man is dead after being shot in a home invasion in Philadelphia's Rhawnhurt neighborhood on Thursday night, 8/8. It happened around 8:15 p.m. on the 1900 block of Stanwood Street. Two men entered the victim's home while two other men waited in a burgundy colored Chrysler minivan. The gunmen made their way to the bedroom and shot the man twice, once in the chest and another in the side. The victim was rushed to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital where he died. Police believe the man may have been targeted. Nothing was stolen from the home. If you have any information contact police at 215-686-TIPS.
