The Philadelphia Eagles held their first and only open practice during 2019's training camp on Sunday evening, 8/4. Lincoln Financial Field hosted 40,000 fans excited to see football back. The number of open practices has dwindled since the days camp was held at Lehigh University. This year, admission was $10 instead of free like previous years. All proceeds went to charity. $475,000 was raised for the Eagles Autism Challenge. Sunday was also Armed Forces Appreciation night. A moment of silence was also held for the victims of the El Paso and Dayton shootings. The preseason starts on Thursday, 8/8. Eagles host the Tennessee Titans, 7:30 p.m. on NBC 10.

Starting Monday night, 8/5, the Chestnut Street bridge over the Schuylkill River between University City and Center City will be closed for about about a year. The bridge was built in 1957 and carries around 19,000 vehicles a day. It is part of a $104 million PennDOT project to renovate the support structure, replace the deck, improve lighting, widen sidewalks, improve bike lanes, and repair and strengthen any deficiencies. Drivers are urged to use Market Street as a detour, while Cyclists will be directed to South Street. Pedestrians can use either Market or Walnut Street. SEPTA bus routes 21 and 42 will be detoured. The closure states tonight at 8 p.m. For more information go to: http://chestnutstreetbridges.com

An employee working for a tree trimming company was injured when the cherry picker truck he was working in tipped over on Monday morning, 8/5. It happened around 11 a.m. on the 200 block of S. Fairfield Road in Devon, Easttown Township, Chester County. The man was in the bucket working on a large tree when the truck fell over onto its side. PECO responded to the scene because the bucket became entangled in live wires. Chester County Fire Department helped free the worker who was then taken to Paoli Hospital. The cause of the accident is not known.
