| Delco Man Forged E-mail, Impersonated Press; Meteor Fireball Seen By 100s; Sea Isle Deck Collapse |

A Delaware County man has turned himself in to police to face several charges including allegedly creating a false, racist government e-mail and impersonating several journalists. 25-year-old Nikolaos Tzima Hatziefstathiou, aka "Nik the Hat," of Broomall faces 10 charges including tampering with public records, attempted theft, receiving stolen property, and making unsworn falsification to authorities. "From April 23 to April 25, Nik Hatziefstathiou, after creating fake email accounts posing as Stephanie Wash, a 'Good Morning America' producer, and Liam Stack, a New York Times reporter, sent several emails to the Delaware County District Attorney's Office repeatedly asking for any reports as well as a comment regarding a claimed 'decade-long scheme' involving 'Delaware County agencies,'" Delaware County District Attorney Katayoun Copeland said. Hatziefstathiou allegedly created an e-mail that looked like it came from the Delaware County Adult Probation and Parole Services containing inflammatory racist language. He then posted that false e-mail and wrote a story with the false narrative on his website YC News. Nik then posed as members of the national press and contacted the Delaware County DA's office to obtain information/comment on the story. Officials say the real journalists confirm they did not contact the DA's office. The office also determined that the e-mail was fabricated and did not come from them. Authorities don't know the exact motive, whether it was to create headlines for his website or perhaps to get back at his own probation officer.
Hundreds of people reported seeing a huge fireball in the sky on Wednesday evening, 7/24, all throughout the Northeastern United States. The American Meteor Society received almost 700 reports from CT, DE, MA, MD, ME, NC, NH, NJ, NY, PA, Québec, Quebec, RI, TN, VA, VT and WV. It happened just after 11 p.m. EDT. Witnesses described the flash as having various colors such as orange, yellow, blue and green. Several people caught the meteor on their home security cameras.

A deck collapsed in Sea Isle City injuring several people early Thursday morning, 7/25. It happened around 1:30 a.m. on 77th Street. Witnesses say that nearly 30 young people were on top of the deck when it broke away from the house and collapsed backwards. The people and furniture all fell on top of each other. Surprisingly, no one was seriously injured. One girl did break her ankle and another suffered a concussion. The home has been deemed unsafe. Authorities are trying to determine the cause of the collapse. |
