Driver Having Seizure Behind Wheel Saved on Dashcam; Two Die in Delco Manhole; Hahnemann Protests

A Bucks County police officer and a Huntingdon Valley firefighter came to the rescue of a driver having a seizure while behind the wheel of a pickup truck on Tuesday morning, 7/9. The incident was captured on police dash cam. It happened around 9:30 a.m. on County Line Road near Newtown Road on the border of Warminster and Upper Moreland. Warminster Township Officer Ryan Bunda came upon a white, Ford F-150 pickup going about 5 mph west on County Line Road. The passenger was waving his arms out the window at the patrol car. Bunda got out of his police car and ran up to the driver's side of the truck. He could see the driver was having a seizure. Bunda opened the door and put his hand on the brake to stop it from rolling into oncoming traffic. A Huntingdon Valley firefighter was passing by at the same time and stopped. He was able to reach the keys and put the car in park. The officer and firefighter then carried the man out of the truck and to a grassy area. The man was then taken to the hospital by medics. The two public servants are being called heroes. Watch the video below:

Two workers were pulled dead from a manhole after they passed out while working underground in Delaware County on Thursday. It happened along on West Rively Avenue between Sycamore and Magnolia in Aldan. Four employees from A to U Services out of Glenolden were performing a dye test. At one point, the two workers stationed down the block at Magnolia lost contact with the other two workers up at Sycamore. They found them unconscious and called 911. Fire crews pulled them up individually from 30 feet down in the manhole. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims have been identified as Daniel Cleaver and Matthew DiSands, both of Prospect Park and in their early 20s. The two men were well known in the community. The medical examiner's officer will have to determine cause of death. OSHA is investigating the incident.

Hundreds of protestors demonstrated outside of Hahnemann University Hospital on Thursday morning, 7/11, as the hospital is going through with plans to close due to financial issues. The protestors consisted of staffers, members of the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals, as well as patients. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf and Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said in a joint statement that they "stand in solidarity with the workers, patients and community." "The situation at Hahnemann University Hospital, caused by CEO Joel Freedman and his team of venture capitalists, is an absolute disgrace and shows a greed-driven lack of care for the community. The hospital has $300 million in debt that is growing daily. Now the owners want a bankruptcy proceeding to protect the profits they extracted from the hospital and community. This mounting debt means a short-term solution is simply not viable," they said. Hahnemann closed its trauma center on Friday and emergency room on Monday. They announced earlier this week that all non-emergency surgeries and procedures, including child births, will shut down tomorrow Friday, 7/12.
