The National Weather Service confirmed that a EF-0 tornado touched down in Burlington County, NJ, on Saturday afternoon, 7/6. The brief landspout tornado was on the ground for .07 miles in Mount Laurel just after 2 p.m. at the Mt. Laurel Industrial Plaza off Gaither Drive. It had winds between 65 to 85 miles-per-hour. Surveillance video from Castle Windows show a car in the parking lot get flipped over by a wind gust. Two air conditioning units were torn from the roof of a warehouse. No injuries were reported. New Jersey and Pennsylvania have already experienced twice the number of tornadoes in an average year.

Philadelphia Police have three men in custody and are looking for a fourth suspect following a barricade situation in Chestnut Hill. It happened just before 1 p.m. on the 7700 block of Crittenden Street. Police arrived to find three armed, masked men inside a Sprint Store. Three employees were briefly held hostage, but were able to escape. The suspects were eventually arrested. Two weapons were recovered. The fourth man fled in a dark gray or black Nissan with the license plate K-W-E-5-0-7-9. No injuries were reported.

Students at Jefferson University's East Falls Campus received an emergency text message warning of an active shooter situation. The message was sent out due to a computer glitch, but not before police responded and cleared the scene. It was sent out on Sunday morning, 7/7, at 10:18 a.m. The message read, "There is an active shooter on the East Falls Campus. Follow emergency procedures: RUN, HIDE, ACT." Once police determined there was no danger, a follow-up message was sent at 10:42 a.m., "East Falls- ALL CLEAR. Please disregard the 10:15 message re: active shooter. There is no immediate danger to the campus." Jefferson University released a statement: "Due to a resolvable system error during a routine morning test of the JeffAlert system, at 10:18 am today, 7/7/2019, a message was issued stating that there was an active shooter on the East Falls campus. There was no active shooter and we apologize for the error. We are taking further action to ensure this does not happen again."
