Philadelphia Police are looking for a large group of teenagers who looted and damaged property at a Walgreens store on South Street on the evening of the 4th of July. It happened around 10:25 p.m. on the 1800 block of South Street. "About 60 juveniles walked into the establishment and began removing things from the shelves, destroying property inside the store. The cashier attempted to intervene and some heavy item - I believe it was a bottle - was thrown at him, striking him in the head," said Captain Sekou Kinebrew of the Philadelphia Police Department. The damage to the store is estimated to be between $6,000 - $7,000. The 46-year-old clerk was treated for cuts and bruises to the head. The crowd of young people had made its way west on South Street before arriving at Walgreens. They were blocking traffic, causing damage, and committing random acts of violence along the way.

Major League Baseball has suspended Philadelphia Phillies Outfielder Odubel Herrera for 85 regular season games without pay. It is retroactive to June 24. Herrera has accepted the suspension, which includes the remainder of the regular season and any 2019 postseason. He will not appeal the discipline and will participate in a confidential and comprehensive evaluation and treatment program supervised by the Joint Policy Board. Herrera was arrested on May 27 in a hotel room of the Golden Nugget casino in Atlantic City. Police had found visible signs of injury to his girlfriend's arms and neck. Earlier this week, charges were dropped against the ball player after his girlfriend declined to press charges.

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred released a statement saying, "My office has completed its investigation into the allegations that Odúbel Herrera violated Major League Baseball's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. Having reviewed all of the available evidence, I have concluded that Mr. Herrera violated the Policy and should be subject to discipline in the form of an unpaid suspension that will cover the remainder of the 2019 season."

The Philadelphia Phillies also released a statement: "The Phillies fully support the decision by the Commissioner's Office to suspend Odubel Herrera for violating MLB's Joint Domestic Violence Policy. All instances of domestic violence and abuse are abhorrent and unacceptable, and we unequivocally support Baseball's collective efforts to prevent domestic abuse. We are encouraged by Odubel's acceptance of his discipline as an indication of his willingness to learn from this and change his behavior appropriately.”

Philadelphia Police are investigating after two were shot by stray bullets while attending a cook out and watching fireworks on the 4th of July in West Oak Lane. It happened around 8:30 p.m. Thursday on the 1800 block of Medary Avenue. A 13-year-old girl and a 26-year-old man were injured. The man was shot in the right leg and the teen girl was hit in both legs. They were taken to Einstein Medical Center. The girl was then transferred to Saint Christopher's Hospital for Children. They are both in stable condition. Witnesses had a hard time determining which direction the shots came from because of all the fireworks. Police are looking for surveillance video.
