Immigration Protests at 4th of July Parade; Two Bodies Found in River; Leg Found at Graffiti Pier

More than two dozen protestors were arrested and cited for interrupting the Independence Day Parade in Philadelphia on the 4th of July. The protest was organized by Never Again Action, a Jewish-led group. Several hundred protestors gathered at the Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Center City Philadelphia around 10 a.m. They are calling for closure of immigration camps at the United States-Mexico border. Protestors then marched to Independence Mall for the July 4th festivities and parade. Police say that the group was peaceful and there were no injuries. 33 protestors were arrested and cited for disorderly conduct after sitting across Market Street and blocking the parade path.

Philadelphia Police are investigating after two bodies were recovered from the Delaware River near Penn's Landing on Thursday morning, 7/4. Just before 6 a.m., the body of a woman was found in the river on the 700 block of South Columbus Boulevard. At 10:30 a.m., the body of a man was removed near Lombard Circle and Columbus Boulevard. They have been identified by family as 28-year-old Anjania Patterson and Tim Siler. They are not married. Police also came across a Nissan SUV with its back open and a pink child's bike in the trunk. They found the couple's 5-year-old daughter inside. The girl told police that she was there with her father. She was taken to the hospital for evaluation and is now with family. The brother of Patterson says the couple had a rocky relationship.

A man discovered a human leg while fishing near Graffiti Pier on Thursday night, 7/4. It happened around 8 pm near North Delaware Avenue and Beach Street. The 27-year-old man was fishing when he found part of a right leg, knee to toe with a sneaker on the foot. Police are searching the area for other body parts. The investigation is ongoing.
