The multi-day festival includes a variety of activities centered around the celebration of America's birthday right here in America's birthplace. Saturday's main event was a free concert by The United States Army Band "Pershing's Own" at Penn's Landing followed by fireworks over the Delaware River. All week expect to find free museum days, outdoor movies, historical experiences, musical performances, and more. It will all culminate on Thursday, July 4th, with the Celebration of Freedom Ceremony, Independence Day Parade, Party on the Parkway, and the Wawa Welcome America July 4th Concert and Fireworks. This year the concert will feature Jennifer Hudson singing with the Philly POPS and Meghan Trainor. For more information about the entire festival go to: https://welcomeamerica.com

A woman who was riding her bike through Philadelphia's Queen Village neighborhood on Thursday evening, 6/27, was attacked by a teenager who was wielding a plastic shovel. It happened around 8 p.m. on 5th Street near Catharine St. The victim, Rachel, was running an errand on her bike when she approached a group of teenagers standing in the street. "He stepped over, swung and hit me, and was standing a few feet away," she said. A neighbor recorded some video of the incident right after Rachel was hit. The teen can be seen standing in the intersection holding a blue shovel, with other boys and girls standing around. A driver stopped to defend the victim and got into a yelling match with the kids. Rachel said that one of the girls did come up to ask if she was hurt, but only to say 'I hope you're hurt.' South Detectives are investigating the incident.
