The Penn Museum in University City has been 'rearranging the furniture' the past couple of days, but instead of adjusting some couches and chairs, they are moving a 3,000-year-old stone sphinx that weighs 25,000 pounds. The statue is of Pharaoh Ramses II is the largest sphinx statue in the western hemisphere. It arrived in Philadelphia by boat and landed in Port Richmond in 1913. It was pulled by horse-drawn cart across the city to the museum. It has been sitting in the museum's Egypt Gallery since 1926. Museum officials are using a system of air dollies to lift and move the massive artifact through doorways and window frames, hair pin turns, up a ramp, and through the inner courtyard. It is being placed in the main entrance hall which is being redesigned. The main entrance will open to the public again on November 16.

A New Jersey lifeguard saved a 10-month-old baby from choking to death on the boardwalk last week. It happened around 12:10 p.m. on Friday, 6/7, in Seaside Heights. Pete Laquaglia, a fifth year lifeguard of the Seaside Heights Beach Patrol, was on break walking along the boardwalk when he heard screaming. He ran to help and found a child having trouble breathing. Laquaglia put the infant over his knee and performed the Heimlich maneuver until a piece of plastic was dislodged from the child's throat. The baby will make a full recovery.

Philadelphia Police are searching for a group of teens that broke a man's jaw in an attempted robbery early Monday morning, 6/11. It happened just after midnight on the 300 block of Chestnut Street. The group of boys and girls, believed to be between ages 15-18, tried to take the 32-year-old man's backpack. They were not able to get the bag from him, but several of the teens did beat the man. He suffered a broken jaw and other minor injuries. The suspects were captured on surveillance video, released by police. If you know any of the suspects or have information about this incident contact police.
