47-story Arthaus Breaks Ground Broad/Spruce; Man Shot in Frankford; Norristown Homes Collapse

A new 47-story condominium tower broke ground on Tuesday, 6/11, across Broad Street from the Kimmel Center. Arthaus is being built by Dranoff Properties and is designed by Philadelphia-native architect Eugene Kohn. It will have 108 units or 'haus.' "Each residence, or as we call them â€˜haus,â€™ will wrap a corner of the building with sweeping views from every vantage point," Dranoff Properties CEO Carl Dranoff said. There is a greenhouse with individual planting beds, a reflecting pool, outdoor dining, fire pit, a lawn, and sun deck. There is also a rooftop dog run. The building also features a 75-foot indoor lap pool, fitness center and yoga, dining salon, cafÃ©, a library, board room, club room, and childrenâ€™s playroom. A man was shot and killed in broad daylight in Philadelphia's Frankford section on Tuesday morning, 6/11. It happened just after 10:30 a.m. on the 5300 block of Horrocks Street. A 26-year-old man was shot multiple times in the head, chest, and leg. He was taken to Temple University Hospital by police where he died a short time later. No arrests have been made.

Four row homes in Montgomery County collapsed on Tuesday afternoon, 6/11, while construction crews were working. It happened around 12:25 p.m. on the 1000 block of Willow Street in Norristown. Crews were working on one home when it collapsed. Two other homes were also pulled down and a fourth was damaged. All four properties were vacant and no one was injured. The exact cause of the collapse is under investigation.

The Philadelphia Phillies lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night, 13-8. Although it didn't go the Phillies way, it was a record setting night at Citizen's Bank Park. The game started with Arizona going Back-to-Back-to-Back in the Top of the 1st, hitting 3 home runs in a row to lead it off. That foreshadowed what was to come. The Diamondbacks hit 8 home runs total to set a franchise record. The Phillies hit 5 home runs themselves. The combined 13 home runs is an MLB record for most in a game.
