A apartment building in Bensalem, Bucks County, caught on fire after being struck by lighting on Sunday afternoon, 6/2. It happened after 4:30 p.m. at the Franklin Commons Apartments on the 100 block of Hummingbird Lane. Resident Vikrama Billava said there was just light rain in the area at the time, but he heard a loud boom like thunder. He then smelled something burning and saw smoke coming from the roof. He took his family outside and knocked on neighbors doors to get out. There were 12 units affected by the fire. No one was injured. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for dehydration. Officials are investigating the cause of the fire, but residents say it was lightning. You can see two black marks on the roof where the bolt could have struck.

Philadelphia Police are looking for the vandal(s) who defaced several murals along the Manayunk Towpath. Someone spray painted graffiti over the colorful murals that depict marine life that are along the trail next to the Manayunk Canal. If you have any information, contact 5th District Police at 215-686-3050.

The Philadelphia Fire Department is mourning the loss of two active-duty firefighters who passed away while off-duty this weekend. One of the firefighters died on Sunday morning, 6/2, while competing in the Escape The Cape triathlon in Cape May, NJ. The race consists of a 1-mile swim, 23-mile bike, and 5-mile run. 36-year-old Dennis "Denny" McDaniels of Northeast Philadelphia had nearly completed the swim portion when he was found unresponsive and in cardiac arrest. He was pulled from the water and emergency personnel performed CPR. He was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. McDaniels was a 12-year veteran of the department, assigned to Ladder 15. He was married with four sons. The second firefighter also died Sunday morning of long-term medical issues. He has not been identified.
