Two teenagers were killed after being thrown from their vehicle in a crash along Roosevelt Boulevard on Saturday night, 6/1. It happened just before 11 p.m. in the southbound outer lanes. 19-year-old Bao Tran was driving and 17-year-old Nick Sy was a passenger in a white Nissan when they lost control around near Devereaux Street. They collided with another car, bounced off of a tree, and crashed into a home. They were both ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger in the other car was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Police are looking into surveillance video to determine what caused the crash.

The 12th Annual Roots Picnic was held at the Mann Center on Saturday, June 1st. This was the first time the event was held in Fairmount Park instead of along the Delaware River at the now closed Festival Pier at Penn's Landing. The event usually sold out in the past due to space, but this year it had 25,000 attendees, 10,000 more than ever. There was one blemish to the day. Five people were injured during a stampede that started during 21 Savage's set. The exact catalyst that caused concert goers to take off running is not known, but four people suffered minor injuries and one has a broken leg from being trampled. Rumors flying through the crowd were that there was a gun, or a fight, or a stabbing. Live Nation said that someone had a 'medical issue' which caused the stampede. One rumor was that someone threw up and those around them pushed to get away, and the whole thing cascaded out of control from there. Philadelphia Police say that no weapon was found. The concert resumed but many concertgoers decided not to back inside.

A bouncer at a gentleman's club in the Tioga-Nicetown section was hit in a drive-by shooting by men he had thrown out of the bar earlier. It happened around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, 6/2, at Celebrations Sports Bar and Grill on the 3700 block of North Broad Street. Three men were asked to leave the establishment after getting into an argument. The men left and got into a car. They then drove by the club, shooting three times. The bouncer was hit once in the face. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition. No arrests have been made.
