SEPTA Bus Caught in Train Crossing Video; Man Arrested Selling Drug Overdose; Teacher Sells Cocaine

Video captured by a motorist in Fox Chase shows a SEPTA bus get caught underneath the arm of the train crossing as it was coming down, and then breaking it off as it drives away. It happened on Saturday afternoon, 5/18, at a Regional Rail crossing on Oxford Ave. The driver of the car that took the video, Feodor Nikonov, says the train came by about 30 seconds after the bus crossed the tracks. Despite how it looks, SEPTA says that the bus driver did what he was trained to do. Drivers are supposed to stop at all crossings, crossing lights on or not. This bus was an articulating bus that is 20 feet longer than normal busses. This crossing is also at an angle. The driver pulled up to get an angle to view the railroad in both directions. That is when the lights started flashing and the arms came down on the back of the bus. In that situation drivers are trained to keep going. The crossing arm was fixed later that day. "Not knowing the proximity of the front of the bus to the nearest rail, because of where he was, he had to make a decision. And the decision is the right decision. You have to get going out of that crossing," said SEPTA's Assistant General Manager of Operations.

A Delaware County man has been arrested for delivering a deadly drug overdose. Ricky Latimer of Glenolden is charged with drug delivery, involuntary manslaughter, and illegal use of a communication facility. He is accused of selling a dose of fentanyl-laced cocaine to a 44-year-old Collingdale man who overdosed and died in February. Delaware County District Attorney Kat Copeland said the arrest comes at the conclusion of a three month investigation. "People buy illicit drugs on the street whether that be cocaine, methamphetamines, or heroin. They have no idea what deadly combination of drugs the distributors have used. Fentanyl is highly addictive and is used to treat pain and the terminally ill. The combination of cocaine exponentially increases the potency of both drugs. He preyed upon a victim's weakness and desperation taking advantage of his struggle with substance use disorder, in this case, Latimer repeatedly delivered drugs for profit in exchange for a man's life," she said. He faces 20 to 40 years in state prison if convicted.

A Philadelphia special education teacher has been arrested and charged with selling cocaine to an undercover officer on multiple occasions in Delaware County. 40-year-old Jennifer Gock of Morton is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession with intent to distribute. She allegedly met the undercover officer four times and exchanged cocaine for cash hand-to-hand. One of those transactions took place a block from Folcroft Elementary School and on several occasions she told the officer that she had come directly from work at a Philadelphia school. After her arrest, police found THC oil, THC edibles, and marijuana in her vehicle. The Philadelphia School District has suspended Gock.
