Every Mother's Day for 28 years, the Susan B. Komen Foundation has hosted the Race for the Cure at the Philadelphia Art Museum to raise funds and bring awareness to the fight against breast cancer while celebrating survivors and remembering those who have passed. They announced back in January that they would be replacing the race with a walk only. This year they started a new tradition called the More Than Pink Walk. The cold and rain did not keep participants from attending Sunday morning's event, 5/12. Besides the sea of pink, there was also purple (research), green (care), blue (community), and orange (action) representing the "the pillars on which we build a world free from the threat of breast cancer." Philadelphia Police are investigating after 5 men were ambushed and shot on a North Philadelphia street late Friday afternoon, 5/11, by three teenagers. It happened around 5:30 p.m. on the 1900 block of North Croskey Street near Berks Street. A group of around 10 men in their 20s and early 30s were walking down the street. Three teens came out of an alleyway and opened fire on the group. Five of the men were shot. The victims range in age from 25 to 32 years old. One was in critical condition while the others were in stable condition when transported to Temple University Hospital. The incident was caught on surveillance footage. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross said. "They were obviously waiting for them. It's tragic any time you get five people shot, regardless of what the circumstances are, but when you look at this video and see that it's kids no more than 10th grade."

Swarthmore College has announced that greek letter organizations will no longer be allowed at the school. College president Valerie Smith said in a statement, "Fraternities and sororities will no longer exist at the College. The Swarthmore chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority may continue with its current members through the spring 2022 semester but may no longer recruit or initiate additional members. The voluntary disbanding of Phi Psi and Delta Upsilon reflects a broader change in student needs and desires. Exclusive, dues-paying social organizations no longer effectively meet the needs of our residential liberal arts environment." The two fraternities came under fire in April after controversial 'meeting minutes' of Phi Psi from 2012 to 2016 were published by two on campus publications. A sit-in was also staged at their leased on-campus house.
