NJ Man Stabs Father to Death; Arrest Made in Warehouse Fire; Man Kills Self After Police Chase

A Cumberland County man has been arrested for stabbing his father to death and assaulting his grandmother inside their home Friday morning, 4/19, before fleeing in a stolen car. 38-year-old Michael Tedesco is charged with murder, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and robbery. Police responded to a call at 9:45 a.m. on the 400 block of Carlton Avenue in Millville, NJ. They found 66-year-old Gary Tedesco dead from stab wounds he suffered during an altercation with his son. Gary's mother, Stella Tedesco, was knocked over during the fight but did not need medical attention. Michael stole his father's vehicle and fled the scene. It was found near 6th and Pine Streets. He was arrested later Friday evening and is being held in Cumberland County Jail on a complaint warrant. The investigation is ongoing.

Authorities have made an arrest in the 4-alarm warehouse fire in Port Richmond earlier this month that cost millions in damages. According to the ATF, 65-year-old Joseph Wolbert has been charged with arson, causing a catastrophe, and other offenses. He is being held on $100,000 bail. The fire happened on April 7th at The Thrifty Irishman thrift store on the 2200 block of East Butler Street. The massive building was completely destroyed, including all of the merchandise inside. Damages are estimated at $1.8 million. Wolbert lives in the same neighborhood as the warehouse. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives did not give a possible motive or other details. The investigation continues.

A man shot and killed himself after fleeing from and shooting at police officers in Philadelphia's Summerdale neighborhood on Saturday evening, 4/20. It started around 6:30 p.m. Police were en route to a domestic call when they were flagged down for a report about a man wearing a camouflage jacket and armed with a gun. This was on the 5600 block of Miriam Street. The two officers approached the man and then pursued him on foot. During the pursuit, the man reached into his waistband, then turned and fired at the officers. The officers returned fire. The man continued to the intersection of Bridge Street and Roosevelt Boulevard where he then shot himself in the head. The officers were not injured. Police are investigating the incident.
