2yo Safely Returned in Mount Airy; Man Steals $120k in Rings From Macy's; 4th Philly Free Streets

A 2-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted by the mother's ex-boyfriend from their home in East Mount Airy early Wednesday morning, 4/17, has been returned. It happened around 2:15 a.m. on the 6600 block of Ross Street. The mother and her 21-year-old ex-boyfriend got into an altercation. The man broke a window, took the child, and left in the mother's car with her phone. She says he is not the father of the girl. Police had been on the phone with him trying to arrange a drop off. Nine hours later, at 11:30 a.m., two men just walked up the street with the child to the home on Ross Street. The child was handed off to officers. The men said they met up with a woman in Germantown at Germantown and Cheltenham Avenues and rescued the baby. The little girl was taken to the hospital to be examined. The suspect has not been caught.

Philadelphia Police are looking for a suspect wanted for stealing $120,000 worth of jewelry from a Macy's in Northeast Philadelphia on Tuesday night, 4/16. It happened around 8:40 p.m. at the store located near Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard. The store was open at the time. The man, approximately 6' tall, was wearing dark clothing. He used a crowbar to pry open the back of a jewelry case. He grabbed 6 high-end diamond rings worth $20,000 each. Police are reviewing store surveillance video. The footage has not been released to the public. They believe the man may have visited the store recently.

The 4th annual Philly Free Streets event will return to North Broad Street this year on August 3rd from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The 4-mile route will stretch from City Hall north to Butler Street. Broad Street will be closed off to vehicle traffic making way for people to run, walk, bike, or engage in other activities.
